Google E-A-T, what it is and what it means

The acronym Google E-A-T literally means: Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness. Let’s see the individual definitions:

  • Expertise: refers to the Experience of those who create content and write on the web, it concerns exclusively the single page analyzed and not the entire site;
  • Authoritativeness: by Authoritativeness, not to be confused with authority, Google means the acclaimed competence of a website in a particular field (according to this logic, the Ferrari brand is an acclaimed and “authoritative” player in the production and marketing of sports cars);
  • Trustworthiness: the truth of the contents of a site, their authenticity and accuracy, determine its reliability. No to pages with fake content for easy earnings and immediate visibility.

Google E-A-T is a judgment logic that determines the position of websites in the SERP. A site that demonstrates experience, authority and reliability, has the main characteristics to remain among the first pages of the search engine.

Google E-A-T, the parameters

First rule: clarity. A site that does not have an immediate identity cannot enter the Google E-A-T favorites. A transparent purpose of the page, recognizable and classifiable objectives, guarantee its quality, making you earn a high rating.

This is why there are a series of questions that would be good to ask yourself, to make an initial self-assessment of the effectiveness of the contents of your site, starting with the title, which must always reflect the content. Another tip, indicate contents that have an expert in the sector as a source, while maintaining the requirement of originality. Here are some practical tips:

  • create content that is useful to the user;
  • publish unique and always original content;
  • engage users through questions, sharing on social media, interactions and comments;
  • pay attention to SEO, let yourself be guided without exaggerating;

You need to work to improve the quality of content production, that is, it is not enough to “fill” in length, but you need to evaluate the “substance”. Own, demonstrable and authoritative content provides quality standards. It is also excellent to be cited within senior sites that are already widely recognized as reliable. How? By inserting internal links that redirect to your site.

Why Google E-A-T is important

“Seriousness pays off” could be the motto for those who work in the digital world and the web universe. The results of hundreds of algorithms and paradigms serve to “select” those who deserve to appear among the first places in the search. Some sites must pay more attention than others: these are those whose content can impact the quality of life of people, in an acronym YMYL (Your Money (or) Your Life). This category includes sites that contain:

  • legal and financial information
  • information on social and political processes

For the e-commerce category, however, it is important to underline that being immediately traceable by a user means having a higher earning potential than others, as well as enjoying a series of opportunities that, those who are at the bottom of the tenth page of Google, can hardly reach!
